Event | AAF + Pixar
“storytelling with Erin Merchant”

September 20, 2018

Strategy + Event Management

Details: Erin Merchant is a Systems Administrator for Pixar Animation Studios. Pixar is arguably one of the greatest storytellers of our generation—over the years, they’ve won 13 Academy Awards, 9 Golden Globes, and 11 Grammys.

Target Audience: Members, non-members, students and educators, along with non-profits and consumers, animators, storytellers, freelancers, marketers, advertising agency and in-house creatives.

Methods of Promotion: We sent four dedicated emails; sent personal emails; created a Facebook event; shared relevant articles and event reminders to social media; created an event page on website; and Ticketleap; and placed it on third party newsletters and community calendars.

Attendance: We had a total of 73 attendees, including 33 members, 24 non-members, 15 students and 1 active military.

Feedback Mechanism: A post-event survey link was provided via website and in a post-event email.

Results: Erin spoke about storytelling, the stories that inspire Pixar’s many animated films, and what the process of producing a film looks like from beginning to end. This was by far the biggest crowd we had this year thanks to the well-known brand name. Our student attendance rate was up 400%. We even worked with our venue to make a special dessert for the lunch to fit in the theme of the speaker. After her presentation, the crowd was highly engaged and asked a lot of questions.
